What is the Present Perfect?
The Present Perfect is used to connect the past with the present.
It’s formed with:
have/has + past participle of the verb.
Examples:
• I have eaten lunch.
• She has visited London.
• They have finished their homework.

1. Life experiences (no specific time):
• Have you ever traveled to another country?
• I have never tried sushi.
2. Actions that started in the past and continue now:
• He has lived here for ten years.
• We have studied English since 2020.
3. Recent actions that affect the present:
• I have lost my keys (I still don’t have them).
• She has just arrived.

Past Simple
If you want to talk about things that happened in the past and are finished, you need the Past Simple tense.
What is the Past Simple?
The Past Simple is used to describe actions that started and ended in the past.
It’s formed by:
• Regular verbs: verb + -ed
(example: play → played)
• Irregular verbs: use the past form
(example: go → went)

• I watched a movie last night.
• She went to the beach yesterday.
• They studied for the test.
